Medium Layer
This layer is largely out of scope for our documentation. It is the lowest layer in the network stack and is responsible for the physical layer, MAC, and more. This layer is embedded onto the chips we use and is not something we can change or modify. This would be things like the integrated BLE or Wi-Fi chips on a phone or MCU, or the LoRa chips we use.
The only time we would need to interact with this layer is when we are using a new medium that is at a raw bit level, like our custom radio hardware. The modulation and interface protocol for our custom hardware is in early testing stages and is not yet ready for public release. It is built on Semtech's SX1262 LoRa chip, but supports our own FHSS scheme with CSS modulation. It also is designed to operate in the 900MHz ISM band for long-range communication, as well as lower in the MURS band for extremely long-range communications.
